Please join The Clute Institute for our 2013 Maui International Academic Conference. Our January 2013 conference will be hosted at the beautiful Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa located in Maui, Hawaii.

We offer four tracks at our conference: Business & Economics, Education, Engineering Education, and Health Sciences.

The Business & Economics track provides a forum for faculty to present their research on any accounting, CIS/CMS, economics, finance, management, marketing, related teaching, or other business-related topics.

The Education track provides a forum for faculty and administrators to share proven and innovative methods in teaching at all levels of education. All teaching or academic related topics are welcome, such as teaching methods, distance-learning, tenure, curriculum, accrediation, ESL, K-12 education, higher education, or other education-related topics. 

The Engineering Education track provides a forum for faculty to present papers that focus on theory, practice, assessment, and mainstreaming of innovative engineering education strategies.

The Health Sciences track provides a forum for faculty to share health science practice, research, and education knowledge.

Other Ways to Participate

If you cannot attend our conference but still wish to have your paper presented, we offer an E-session for your convenience. Your paper will be presented electronically for viewing and discussion using Microsoft PowerPoint with narration (voice-over). More details on preparing this type of presentation can be found here >
You are still required to submit a proposal/abstract or full paper and one author has to pay the registration fee.

You are also invited to attend the conference, even if you choose not to present a paper.

Style Guidelines

For proposals/abstracts, your submissions should not exceed 1500 words.  Include your name, institute affiliation, mailing address, and email address for all authors.

For full papers to appear in our conference proceedings, your manuscript should be saved as a Microsoft Word-compatible file. Text should be formatted for 8.5 x 11 inch paper, single-spaced at 10 points, with one inch margins and left justified. We generally follow American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines. Your submission should contain the following:

  • Name, institute affiliation, mailing address, and email address for all authors
  • Paper title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Body of paper
  • Tables, figures, etc. in their proper position in the paper (if applicable)
  • Conclusion
  • Brief biography of each author (one paragraph, no more than 100 words)
  • References

The conference registration fee includes publication of up to 10 pages in the proceedings. Papers exceeding 10 pages will be invoiced at a rate of $10.00 USD per page or truncated to 10 pages.

Please indicate the specific conference track for which the paper is being submitted.

The registration fee and final version of what you would like included in the proceedings must be received by December 6, 2012 to ensure that your name and paper appear in the printed conference program and proceedings. For submissions after December 6, 2012 please contact us to make arrangements.

Acceptance

Within one week of receiving your proposal/abstract or full paper we will email you a notification of acceptance or rejection. If accepted, additional conference and registration-specific information will be included.

All accepted papers/abstracts are double-blind, peer reviewed and will be published in our conference proceedings (unless otherwise requested).

Registration Fees

Fees for The Clute Institute 2013 Maui International Academic Conference are as follows:

  • $350.00 (US$) per individual to attend the conference for payments received by December 6, 2012.
  • $400.00 (US$) per individual to attend the conference for payments received on or after December 7, 2012.

    This fee includes: admission to the conference, an approximate 20-minute time slot to present one paper at the conference, a printed copy of the conference program, a copy of the proceedings on a USB flash drive, and admission to all receptions, coffee breaks, etc. All attending conference participants must pay the registration fee and at least one author per paper must attend unless the paper is being presented in an e-session.

    The registration fee also includes a complimentary standard journal review of your conference paper for up to one year from the date of the conference.

  • $150.00 (US$) per additional paper if presenting more than one paper at the conference.

The conference registration fee must be prepaid.

Our preferred payment method is via online transaction. We use PayPal Merchant Services as our payment processor. They accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or PayPal account payments. Note: a PayPal account is not required for online credit card payments (though you are welcome to use one) nor are you required to create an account to complete the process.

Cancellation

  • A full refund will be given for cancellations received before December 6, 2012. 
  • A $50 fee is assessed if notice of cancellation is received on or after December 6, 2012 and before December 25, 2012.
  • No refund will be given for cancellations received on or after December 25, 2012.
  • A pre-paid $25 fee is imposed on conference transfers from one conference to another.

Hotel & Travel Information

The location for our Maui conference will be at the beautiful Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in Maui, Hawaii.

We have very good room rates for the Sheraton ($210.00 plus tax per night). There is also a daily resort fee of $10.00 and a bellman fee of $8.50.  Additionally there is a room delivery fee of $1.75 for the first item and $0.50 for each additional item.  Finally we recomend a daily maid gratuity of $2.00.  The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is situated on beautiful Ka'anapali Beach, near the historic whaling center of Lahaina, Maui.

There are a limited number of rooms available at the group rate, so book your room as soon as you can. This rate is in effect until December 1, 2012 or until sold out. There is an additional charge of eighty dollars ($80.00), plus tax for any adult (eighteen yearsor older) in a room (for a third perssom).

There are also a very limited number of rooms available for $329.00 a night on December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013.

Kahului Airport is Maui's primary airport. It is a 50 minute drive from the airport to the resort.

Your Presentation

PPlease bring your presentation on a USB flash drive or PC-compatible CD/DVD disc.

Each presentation room will be equipped with a laptop, data projector and screen for PowerPoint presentations. Transparency projectors are not provided. /p>

Conference Schedule & Proceedings

Your presentation will be scheduled for the day or days requested on your Registration Form.
